The Dreaded Blue Forms!

Hi guys this is not supposed to be a whinge but more of an observation about my blue form from my CCT from my last prac :) I got some great verbal feedback about my treatment with teenagers in my second last week, and so my CCT decided to 'challenge' me and help me learn more by deciding to give me an 8month old kid for my final assessment. I agree that it was a great learning experience (as i had only seen about 3hours worth of kids under the age of 2 during my prac) as my handling skills need a lot of practice. My final blue form reflected this with lots of comments about handling needing more experience, etc, which was fine. However, I felt that this didn't accurately show the fact that I was good with older kids and that I had been thrown out of my depth with a bub. I tried to explain this to my CCt but didnt want to make a fuss as she was a fantastic tutor and I learned heaps from her. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience cheers! Good luck with the beginning of new pracs!

Hi Amanda,
I had a similar experience with my cardio placement. I had very good comments in my mid placement ax as the pt I had was similar to the rest of the patients that i had been seeing (general surgery) However, I ended up having a open heart surgery for my final ax (who also had a pneumothorax hence on ICC 5kpa). As expected on day 2, he had millions of attachments that I never came across and hence scored a few comments about that on my blue form. However, luckily she also added comment in the end saying that I did well given my circumstances. Trying to understand from supervisor's POV, its understandable that they have to report everything they see but perhaps all we can do is tell them what our circumstance is and hoping that they will understand...

Hey hun, I can see how fustrating that would be for you! I think that the final assessment is such an artificial situation and that, that one performance may not necessarily be a true reflection of your performance over the whole prac. I think that if your CCT has seen you perform well over the placement then they would definatley take that into consideration, but it is still annoying that they dont actually document that because how will any one else ever know how fantastic you were! hehe Im sure you got great reviews hun, good luck with the rest of prac.
